DESCRIPTION:
A protein powder with insects? Of course! Insects are not only incredibly sustainable, but also the perfect source of nutrients for your body! They contain all essential amino acids, 70% protein, plenty of vitamin B12, healthy fats, iron, zinc… and so on.
What's special about our insect protein powder? At 35%, we have by far the highest insect content on the market.
But where does the rest of the protein come from? The remaining protein comes from three different high-quality plant-based proteins. By the way, Mybugbar protein powder is free of artificial flavorings and made in Germany! Go ahead, dare to become a trendsetter!
HOW DO I PREPARE THE SHAKE?
You can prepare our insect protein shake just like any other shake. Simply mix about 300ml of liquid with about 30g of protein powder and shake well. For example, use our sustainable Mybugbar shaker made from wheatgrass.
You can use virtually any liquid you like, depending on your taste. While we recommend oat milk, many people also recommend using cow's milk, for example, or even just water.
WHAT DOES THE PROTEIN POWDER TASTE LIKE?
Contrary to what you might initially assume, our protein powder doesn't taste like insects. Quite the opposite; instead, it tastes like our delicious and flavorful ingredients: strawberry, banana, or cocoa.
Our natural fruit powders (or cocoa powder) impart a very natural and delicious flavor. We completely avoid any other aromas or flavorings.
So if you like very intense and artificial taste, you have come to the wrong place.

REASONS FOR INSECT PROTEIN:
1. High-quality, natural protein
Whey 1% > Mealworm 60%
Naturally rich in protein: Mealworms are naturally rich in protein, so no further complex processing is necessary. This preserves important macro- and micronutrients.
Extremely high biological value: mealworm vs. milk protein
"Both have the same performance in digestion, absorption, and ability to stimulate muscle production."
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition
2. More than just a source of protein

3. Most sustainable animal protein source
Extremely efficient feed converter: The mealworm is cold-blooded and therefore particularly resource-efficient in its conversion to protein. This property saves immense amounts of raw materials compared to traditional livestock farming.
Mealworm vs. Beef
• The mealworm produces 100x less CO² than cattle
• The mealworm requires 4x less feed than cattle
• The mealworm needs 15600x less water than cattle
Sustainability taken further
Mealworms are partly fed with leftovers from the food industry. These leftovers are reused either as fertilizer or animal feed. Furthermore, mealworms are 100% edible. In cattle, only 60% of the animal is consumed.
WHERE DO THE INSECTS COME FROM?
MyBugBar's mealworms come from a certified farm in the Netherlands. They have been breeding insects for human consumption there for over 10 years – naturally under the highest hygiene and quality standards. And completely without the addition of hormones or antibiotics.
